Weight Shift Drills

You have to have a correct weight shift for your golf swing. All of the long hitters have the correct weight transfer.

Grace Park is known as a long hitter on the LPGA Tour. At one time, she was hitting it 270 yards on average. That's very long for women.

Here are the weight shift drills she does to get more distance when she wants.

She called it ABC Baseball Drill.

Here is how to do it.

A) Lift your left foot

First step is to lift your left foot completely off the ground on the backswing. On the downswing, put your foot back to where it was before.

Grace actually hits some shots with this drill with slow swing speed.

B) Lift your left heel

Next, raise or lift your left heel off the ground as you swing back. Feel your weight is shifting to your right foot as you take the club back to the top.

Hit some shots with faster swing speed than the first step (A).

C) Swing as usual

Finally, hit balls with your normal swing. (She usually doesn't raise her left heel off the ground.) If you raise your left heel off the ground, then repeat the first step.

These drills will help you increase your distance by helping you to transfer your weight correctly to your right.
